The weaving pattern named 'Patola'. Patola pattern was from the Indian trader that came to East Sumba. The patola cloth was awarded to Maharaja Jawa(JavaKings) to all kings in Sumba as a symbol of Majapahit influence in Sumba. This pattern in the past was used only by nobleman and kings. In the funeral ceremony, this pattern has the highest position compared to other patterns. The geometry represent the human relationship with them selves and the environment. The patola pattern has many variations that came from the weaver's cultures and environment. This old pattern is one of the new discover from the grand mother treasury. The patola also become the symbol of social status and leadership of the nobleman(hundaranggaruu patuala).
