This is the batik maple leaf that we made for a special project that's gave us an opportunity to do a satellite workshop in Orillia, ON.
It all started with a collective art submission calling for artists to decorate a maple leaf with ancestral methods of design. The Batik Library made one using batik method, proudly representing Indonesia and this intangible history. Here was our process!
Make sure to drop by Reflections of Ourselves if you’re in Orillia:

This summer, we’ve definitely been looking for opportunities to share our love for batik beyond Vancouver and offered workshops in Calgary!
Special thank you to The Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia in Vancouver, the Canadian Indonesian Social Club, and Global Fest for supporting our booth at Indonesian Pavilion at the Calgary Stampede. It marked our debut at the celebrations and allowed us to share batik to stampeders.
Excitingly, we’re marking another first milestone and offering satellite workshops in Toronto. Please join us if you can on:
Friday, August 26 at the Textile Museum
Saturday, August 27 at the Orillia Museum of Art & History
