Halendang Shawl - Queen Patola

The weaving pattern is called as rooster (manu). The local belief, called Marapu, the people raise the rooster for sacrificial animal in a ritual. The pattern represent the awareness and masculinity. The cock crow reminds the human to always aware and to move fast in solving the problems. In Sumbanese poem, it is called pu ru la tana ba ndede puru da manu or the responsive one is the one who can get down to house hall faster than rooster that go down from the ridge of the house to the ground. The masculinity from the symbol come from the expression of manu wulu ma hakuku or the crowed rooster. It represent the mighty and wise leader.
