The weaving pattern is called as kapaki (frog). The color for this woven shawl came from the mix dyes between indigo and yellow to create greenish color. The kapaki represent a rainy season. There are lot of frogs during the rainy season. The dry and hot environment in East Nusa Tenggara, including East Sumba makes the water become valuable thing for the people there. The similar pattern also can be found in Timor island (also other islands in East Nusa Tenggara) and it represent the joy of rainy season.
